Waldeck's Office Supplies For A Small Planet is a 54 year old San Francisco retail business that focuses on environmentally friendly products for the workplace. Second generation Waldeck's owner, Clifford Waldeck had the honor of serving on his local City Council and three California State environmental regulatory agencies and realized it was time to "practiced what he preached" in his own business. Waldeck's understands the need for all humanity to work better together to preserve and protect our increasingly fragile Earth...thus the moniker "For A Small Planet."
Waldeck's has an extensive record of community involvement including being one of the San Francisco's first retailers to offer domestic partner benefits to their employees, hiring from Welfare to Work and SF Goodwill programs, helping SF formulate their Green Business Ordinance as well as the City's Precautionary Principle Purchasing Program. Most recently, Waldeck's along with B Corp Founder GSB, assisted the world's largest wholesaler of office supplies develop a green program for their dealers.
What is the change we seek?
Waldeck's believes independent retail businesses that sell green products greatly enhance the visibility and usage of environmentally friendly practices while, at the same time, help strengthen and diversify their local community. Neighborhood serving retail businesses are often a key factor in a person's decision as to where to live, work or visit.
In addition, we are passionate that the office products industry must continually improve on their environmental stewardship and become a stronger leader towards a cleaner, healthier society.
Why we became a B Corporation
While Waldeck's business focuses on the San Francisco Financial District, by joining B Corp we can help advocate retail entrepreneurship throughout the country. We are confident that B Corporation Certification will make it easier for consumers throughout the United States to find and support good businesses, so that their communities too can reap the benefits that community focused retail business have to offer. Moreover, Waldeck's is proud to provide to our customers the products of many fellow B Corp members (Method, New Leaf Paper, Seventh Generation) and hopefully more in the future.
